Jing Shengtan was a eminent liferary criticizer during Ming and Qing Dynasty. His criticism on novels and operas developed a school of his own. Besides the art of criticism, his poetic creation achieved greatly and wrote poetic Selection From Muttering Building. The book reflected his inner world with most outhenticity. It's also said to be the first data of his study. But for a long time, the book didn't attract the attention in academic circles. This article is trying to grazp Jin Shengtan's poetic creation as a whole and explore his thoughts and poetic art from his works to provoke a further study on him.
