Mutually Explanatory Character Approach and Its Academic Value

The significance and characteristics of mutually explanatory character approach are a major concern in this article. Many people assume that mutually explanatory character approach merely create some new characters. But taking the definition and examples given in Hsu Shu's Shuo-wen as a starting point, this article elaborates that mutually explanatory character approach, specially devised for synonyms, has much greater significance.
