The Great October Socialist Revolution
Abstract:World War I had brought with it unprecedented disaster and suffering for the Russian people, which intensified the domestic class contradiction. Several million people had lost their lives in the imperialist war, the Russian economy had been destroyed, and practically all the people's resources used up. Large areas of land had been laid waste, many factories had closed, prices had skyrocketed, and the broad masses of working people had suffered both hunger and cold, struggling on the verge of death. The war taught the people. The war gave rise to revolution.
