On the Inevitability of Instituting the Dual Education System |
| |
Abstract: | It has become common knowledge that education must serve socialist modernization; nevertheless, the problem of how education is to meet the needs of modernization remains, and it calls for immediate study and resolution. Ours is a heavily populated country with a poor foundation. These two basic characteristics determine that we cannot mechanically copy other countries' methods of modernization; rather, we should proceed from realities in China and move along our own path. The economy conditions education, which in turn serves the economy. When exploring a Chinese road to modernization, a major concern is how to establish an education system, suited to the situation in our country, that satisfies the development of both education and the national economy. |
