The Historical Track of the Chinese Ancient Female Personality |
| |
Abstract: | In the extended history of Chinese culture, females have equaled males in population figures, yet one finds scant reference to females in historical books describing contributions to society and social advances; thus they would seem to be insignificant. It is precisely such a cultural atmosphere, where little store is set by women, that has formed the personality traits of the traditional Chinese woman—a woman who is profoundly fettered by a feudal code of ethics, who has little power to resist, and yet who is unwilling to submit to the dictates of the male world. |
