摘    要:词汇在二语习得中起着至关重要的作用。本文旨在借助非英语专业学生大学英语四、六级考试 成绩,研究Nation 最新的词汇量测试能否预测语言水平。96 名非英语专业大二学生参加了此次实验。实验 结果显示词汇量跟四级成绩显著相关,与六级成绩的相关性不明显。这一研究结果或将是对目前我国大学英 语词汇知识教与学过程中重广度轻深度、重接受轻产出现象的一个醒示。

Abstract:Vocabulary plays an important role in language learning. This paper aims to study the predictability of the Vocabulary Size Test ( VST) on language proficiency by looking into the correlation between the vocabulary of non-English majors and their scores of College English Tests ( CET-4 and CET-6) . The study shows that vocabulary size is significantly related to CET-4 but not associated much with CET-6. It may be a warning for the non-English majors and their teachers,who focus much on breadth and reception of vocabulary knowledge while attaching little importance to depth and production of vocabulary knowledge.
