LIANG Qi-chao's view of cultural consciousness after World War I(WWI) is essentially the country's modernity he was mediating under the then social cultural trend of thought.He proclaimed that the principle of mind emancipation,i.e.re-assessing all values ought to be applicable to the Western culture.He objected to the claim that sciences are omnipotent.In fact,sciences should share an equal status with the humanities,and the New Cultural line of mind emancipation should be decided by ourselves.Apparently,not only is LIANG a pioneer of the New Culture Movement,but also his view displays an outstanding uniqueness: his idea of cultural consciousness conceives its own rationality and prospectiveness,which largely enriches the New Culture Movement and represents one important aspect of the mind emancipation trend.
