Abstract:Most models of semiconductor Industry cycles have assumed that the cycles are smooth and continuous.But they are of little use when semiconductor Industry suffers a sudden crash or catastrophe,like what happened in 2001.This paper seeks to examine such cases by applying the theory of catastrophes to semiconductor Industry.It is argued how the determinants cause the catastrophe occur- ring by a catastrophe model.Finally some suggestions are made for further research and development of semiconductor Industry.
