我国一鸟疟原虫新记录——嗜核疟原虫的描述

在海南岛保亭县猎捕2隻白腰文鸟(Lonchura striata),它们体内自然感染了一种小型疟原虫,根据其形态特征,鉴定为嗜核疟原虫。

A New Record of Bird Plasmodium from the Lonchura striata in China

This paper deals with a new record of bird malaria parasite from the Whi- te-eumped Munia in Hainan Island, P. R. China. This new species belongs to the group of small avian Plasmodia. It is unsy- nchronzation in the development in erythrocytic stages. The youngest form doe- sn't attach to the nucleus of the host cell, and it can be found in anywhere of the erythrocyte. It tends to elongate when growing and one or two pigment gra- nus appears in the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm of older trophozoite often becomes pieces in form and some can be seen outside of the erythrocyte. When four to nine merozoites are seen with little cytoplasm. Mature schizonts are rather seen in the peripheral blood. The black pigment becomes clumped, and is not refract- ile. Both microgametocytes and macrogametocytes are elongated, they are closely attached to the host cell nucleus, and shows little tendency to curve round at its extremities. Host: Lonchura striata. Location in host: blood. Locality: Bao-ting county, Hainan Island, China. Discussion: the characterstic of this bird malaria differs from other's as follows: the erythrocytic stages of it is not much different fron coresponding stages of P. paranucleophilum. It closely attaches to the nucleus of its host cell. It differs from P. juxtanucleare, because the gametocytes of P. juxtanucleare is different from the usual elongate form typical of the subgenus Novyella. It also differs from P. formosanum, P. anasum and P. elongatum, because all these species does not belong to the same subgenus.
