翻译:语言差异的认识与超越--高健的语言个性理论说略

如果说翻译的可能性，建立在文化的共性上，那么翻译的局限性，则建立在文化的个性上。故之，翻译过程中译者所面对两种语言、两种文化的差异随处可见；而对其各自语性的关注也就显得尤为重要。高健的语言个性理论或许是认识译出语与译入语之差异并超越这种差异的真正钥匙。该理论的基本精神是：语言各有其不同的个性，这种个性对每种语言特色的形成关系极大；写作与翻译，尤其是后者，不注意这事便会造成不佳的译作。因此，在翻译过程中，译者必须摸准吃透译入语与译出语各自的语言个性，努力寻求双方语性的最佳融合点和最好的结合形式，在充分尊重原文表达形式的前提下，将所译的东西，从内容到形式以至风格，尽可能完美地融入译入语中，并以它为中心。

Translation:Understanding and Transcending Linguistic Differences--An Introduction to Gao Jian''''s L.C. Theory

It is true that translation is a cross-linguistic, cross-cultural, cross-social communication. If the possibility of translation is based on the cultural generalities, the limitation of it will lie in cultural particularities. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the great differences between languages and cultures involved in translation. Mr. Gao Jian's language character theory (L- C. T) may be a key to understanding and transcending such linguistic and cultural differences. The fundamental concept of L-C.T. goes as follows: each language has its own character and as such, has no small share in the shaping of a particular tongue, both in translation and writing. But while due care has been given to the latter, the same can hardly be said of the former, for laboring under the weight of the strange original, it is not unlikely that one forgets his duty to both, especially to the language character of the T-L, and so much so that the resultant translation is far from satisfactory. Thus, in translation, target-language-centred approach should be encouraged, that is, the translator should have a thorough comprehension of the language characters of both the source language and target language before he finds the best compatible or fusional point, and then conveys all from the source into the target language, perfect either in content, form, or style.
