| Abstract: | The British novelist William Golding's sea trilogy is not really a Bildungsroman,for its hero has not really learned what there was to learn;as the narrator,he does not have a language to relate his story as it might be told by a more perceptive observer;and the writer,as distinguished from the narrator,wants us to be aware of these shortcomings of his narrator. |
