A Comparative Study on P. Grice's and Sperber / Wilson's Approach to Euphemism
作者姓名:Ying  Guo
摘    要:Euphemism is a way to express polite, comforting, mild and less distasteful ideas, which is often used by nearly anyone in the speech community. However, how is euphemism interpreted ? There are two theories providing the explanations: one is CP and the other is Relevance Theory. CP focuses on deliberate floutings of maxims of conversation, giving rise to implicature while Relevance helps euphemism comprehension through optimal relevance by using explicating strategies.
