On Zeng Guofan's Antithetical Couplets

Here are ten collections of antithetical couplets, among which the couplets of places of interests are outstanding in its form and spirit (the latter precedes) with distinguishing syntax and poetic charm. The vivid and moving couplets in living rooms lay emphasis on disclosing the mystery and tradition of reasoning. The couplets in some stores try to express some special and queer interest by hinting and portraying some picturesque occasions. The recreation in Zeng's couplets deserves our study and summary.
