20世纪最引人注目的文学事件之一是在亚非拉相当大一部分国家产生了持续不断的、有组织的英语文学创作活动。为此,我们成立了一个小组,专门研究有关问题。本文是对课题组的命名和准备开展的工作的一个说明:亚非拉英语文学比英联邦文学、英语新文学、英语后殖民文学等更能反映我们的价值取向;我们首先和主要研究亚非拉英语作家为亚非拉人民创作的作品。

The Term and Task of the Research of English Literatures in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean

One of the most remarkable literary events in the 20th century is that English creativity began taking root in quite a few nations in Asia,Africa and the Caribbean.The literary circle in the mainland of China usually forces it into the so-called immigrant literature or just neglects it.As a matter of fact,such works have long been studied in terms of commonwealth literature,new literatures in English,post-colonial literatures in English,or of the nations concerned.Now all the terms are put under a general check-up with the newly-coined English literatures in Asia,Africa and the Caribbean.
