科举作为中国历史上影响最大的一种人才选拔制度早已在百年前退出历史舞台,但考试选才这种方式依然存在,科举学因此具有强烈的现实性。科举"追求至公"具有超越时代的先进性与普适性;科举促进社会流动对改善当今社会结构具有积极示范意义;科举立法缜密确保考试权威公正亟待当今考试法治借鉴。科举学研究的现实意义不仅体现在对当今教育考试制度建设的启发借鉴上,还可延展到教育乃至政治领域的许多方面,从科举的公平性、社会流动、考试立法等角度谈古论今,仅是科举学研究的现实意义之"冰山一角"。
