| 摘 要： | 毛姆是一位对东方及中国文化颇感兴趣的作家。童年的不幸以及成年后的经历使毛姆放弃了对基督教的信仰,而与叔本华的悲观主义哲学心契神合,叔本华对东方哲学的盛赞影响了毛姆。对奥斯卡.王尔德的景仰,则进一步加深了他对中国的渴慕,其中王尔德对庄子哲学思想的介绍对毛姆的影响不可忽略。正是这些原因的共同作用引领毛姆走上了中国大地。

| Abstract: | Maugham,who was an author interested in Oriental and Chinese culture,travelled the Far East and South Sea Islands twice.From the end of 1919 to March in 1920,Maugham stayed for 4 months in China.His misfortune in childhood and the experiences in adult life forced him to abandon the belief in Christianity,then he turned to the philosophy of Schopenhauer's pessimism.Schopenhauer's highly praise for the Oriental philosophy also affected Maugham and made him realize that the mysterious Orient is Shangri-la of wisdom.His respect and admiration for Oscar Wilde deepened his longing for the East.The introduction of the philosophy of Zhuangzi by Wilde gave Maugham a nonnegligible effect. The collective effects of these reasons led Maugham to step on the land of China. |
