严复的文言书写观点

关于文言书写,严复按照读者对象,不但注意调整内容上的安排,而且采取了合适的书写方式。他虽然赞同启蒙是当务之急,但并没脱离传统的书写环境,仍然把文言视为易于传达作家的意向、情感的无以替换的工具。不过,他考虑到当时书写和传播的环境,把书写方法运用得较为实用,是值得肯定的。

The Yanfu's Thought on Literary Language

Taking readers into consideration, Yan Fu not only pays attention to the arrangement of the contents, but also choose a suitable in way of writing. Although he agrees that the enlightenment is the matter of immediate necessity in those days, but he is against traditional writing system, still regards literary language as the tools of communicating writers' thoughts and feelings. Nevertheless, he fully considers the circumstances of writings and circulations, practically uses the way of writing, so it seems that his thought is worthy of affirmation.
