关于语言符号任意性的再思考

语言符号任意性作为索绪尔结构主义语言学的主要支柱,是这一理论的核心内容。然而随着语言研究由内部语言学向外部语言学的转移,学界对语言符号任意性的问题也提出了不同的争议,总括学界在这一问题上的否定和肯定性观点,笔者论证了两个问题:1.语言符号两要素音响形象与概念联系的任意性、不可论证性;2.语言符号的任意性并不因后来的“约定俗成”及其可论证性而丧失,它始终存在。

Reflection on the Arbitrariness of Linguistic Signs

The arbitrariness of linguistic signs is foremost and exists in all languages.It is the theoretic backbone and nuclear content that Saussure used to establish his structuralistic linguistics.Summing up the oppugning、negative and affirmative viewpoints about Saussure's theory on arbitrariness of linguistic signs,the paper demonstrated two points.The first is that the two elements of linguistic signs is the sound and notion and both the signifier and signified is arbitrary.The second is that the arbitrariness of linguistic signs is existing first midst and last.It is impossible to be forfeited with its established by usage and its demonstrability.
