翻译即征服

翻译历来体现不平等性，体现权力之争。传统译论中的“忠实”、“对等”体现原文与译文权力的不平等性，强迫翻译征服译文。而后殖民语境下存在着强势文化与弱势文化之间的权力差异，翻译是殖民者用以征服弱势文化的工具。这种翻译研究及翻译实践中的权力差异使翻译具备的征服性，均对翻译活动与翻译实质缺乏正确解读。翻译急需重新定位。

Translation,where there is always inequality,reflects the power struggle."Faithfulness" and "equivalence" in traditional translation theories show the inequalities between the source text and the target text.Translation in that sense is forced to conquer the source text.However the power differentials between hegemonic cultures and dominated cultures in postcolonial context make translation a tool of conquering cultures.Power differentials in translation theories or translation practice can hardly be parted from the conquest nature of translation,which lacks the correct appreciation of translation activities and its true meaning respectively.Translation is in urgent need of its reorientation.
