In the early 20~(th) century Chinese patriotic intellectuals showed a great tendency of defying Christianity advocated and expanded by the Christianity forces via the strong western military aggressions. For the reason that China was poor, that there's a substantial difference between Chinese and western religions, and that the rudeness by some missionaries in addition to the running conceptions of some schools are so irritating that the uprisings of the anti-Christianity finally spread over quite a few provinces in China.
