语言是人们最重要的交际工具,它既具有精确性又有模糊性。人们总是根据交际需要选择运用语言的这两种特性。模糊语言现象是存在于人类语言中的普遍现象,在任何语言、任何语体中人们都经常运用它。如果说模糊语言学(Fuzzy Linguistics)是从静态来研究语言本身的模糊性的话,那么对含糊语言的研究就是对交际中活的语言进行的动态研究,它涉及到构成语境的各种变动的因素。语用含糊是一种重要的交际策略,在不同的场合产生不同的功能。本文主要探讨含糊语言的产生及其功能。

Vagueness in Language and its Pragmatic Functions

Language is the most important communication device of human being.It can be accurate and vague as well.People choose either accurate or vague language according to their need in their communication.Vagueness in language is universal.Fuzzy linguistics approaches language from a static point of view,while the study of vague language looks into the language being used in actual context.This paper analyses vague language as a communication strategy and its various functions.
