ZHANG Zhi-dong's Initiations of Schools in Hubei and Its Influence

Hubei province stood in the forefront of education in china in the ancient society,but Chinese society had been changed a lot during the opium war and the education of coastal areas had made a progress,so Hubei fell behind the other areas then.When Zhang Zhi-dong took charge of Hubei from 1898,during seventeen years,he transformed the old school,built the new school system and advocated and dispatched student studying abroad,a series of actions made the education of Hubei achieve tremendous improvement,and Hubei became a powerful province of education in china again.This paper is to talk about Zhang Zhi-dong's initiating schools in Hubei Province and its lasting influence.
