Knowledge Economy and University Libraries

Knowledge economy is knowledge-based economy.The university library is primarily an organization which collects,stores,exploits and transmits knowledge;it is therefore intrinsically linked to the knowledge economy.This paper examines the concept and characteristics of knowledge economy,and its impacts on the whole society.Discusses the challenges and opportunities that knowledge economy has brought about to university libraries.The paper concluds by proposing strategies for facing the challenge.
