在当今改革开放的中国,如何正确对待传统文化和外来文化,需要面对事实进行理性思考,作出选择,避免陷入类似“第一推动力”的思维误区。“传统文化”成为思考的问题对象是因为现实中面临着社会道德重建的问题。回到传统既无可能也无必要。传统既不是负担,也不必固守不变,而是应当作可供开发的文化资源。不能因传统而作茧自缚,也不能因外来文化而妄自菲薄。现实中西方文明正逐步地融入我们的传统中,这正是当代历史的启示。社会历史的发展是在具体的社会历史环境中发展,进行不同文明的充分对话是作出正确选择的前提。“普世价值”这一概念具有预设性,只是理论的抽象,社会发展的现实路径总是在各种可能性中得到选择。面对当代世界各文明之间的冲突,中华民族要有充分的自信,结合现实国情进行自我确证,以开放的胸襟完成社会道德重建。
