象似性手势在儿童早期词汇学习中的作用

The Role of Iconic Gestures in Early Vocabulary Learning

Iconic gestures refer to the gestures closely related to the semantic content of the accompanying speech in form and expression.Children usually produce iconic gestures between 18~24 months and can accurately understand such gestures by the age of 3.The generation and understanding of iconic gestures are positively correlated with age,and greatly influenced by culture.Iconic gestures can reveal children’s symbolic development level,explain and reproduce speech organization processes,supplement the unexpressed information in the speech,promote multi-channel representation,improve the efficiency of vocabulary processing,and thus can help children’s vocabulary comprehension,memory and generalization.Future research should further expand the research objects of iconic gestures,examine the relationship between iconic gestures and embodied cognition and the multiple influences on vocabulary learning to increase the research’s guiding role in education practice.
