摘    要:该文根据Smith给预测下的定义以及作预测的三个主要原因,探讨了预测在初中英语阅读教学中的必要性及其对理解的作用,并从外语教育心理学和外语教育学等方面对预测与理解的关系加以论证,补充说明了Goodman所描述的"阅读是一种心理语言的猜测活动",验证了预测是理解的基础、预测是阅读的核心这一阐述的正确性。
