冯·赖特与排除归纳法

摘    要:排除归纳法是一种重要的归纳方法;如何用逻辑的手段刻画因果关系是哲学家、逻辑学家和人工智能科学家共同关心的问题。培根奠定了排除归纳法的基础,穆勒将这种方法系统化并整理出它的推理模式,布罗德用条件概念分析因果关系。冯.赖特以现代符号逻辑的眼光审视排除归纳法,在一阶逻辑的层次上讨论它,用全称条件句表达因果关系,从而揭示出这种方法的逻辑性质。

Abstract:Eliminative Induction(EI) is an important inductive method;and it is a shared question of philosophers,logicians and AI scientists to find out a way of describing causality in terms of logic.Hence,in the history of philosophy,F.Bacon laid the foundation of EI,J.S.Miller made EI systematized and worked out its inference model,and C.D.Broad analyzed causality with regard to the concept of Condition.But von Wright examined EI from the perspective of modern symbolic logic: he discussed EI at the level of first-order logic,expressed causality by means of universal implication and equivalence,and consequently revealed the logical nature of this methodology.
