语言变体框架中的语域

社会语言学界对"语域"的外延有明显的分歧,分歧的焦点在于外延的宽窄。文章以韩礼德关于语域的三个维度的论述为主要依据,将语域放在语言变体的整体框架中进行探讨。文章从语言变体框架的平衡性、方言与语域的对应、重叠和转化以及语言变体框架的第四、第五层次的划分等视角试图证明"广义语域论"较之"狭义语域论"有着明显的优越性。

Register in the Framework of Language Varieties

There exists obvious divergence of views concerning the denotation of register among socio - linguists, the focus of which lies in how broad the notion should be. Based chiefly on M. A. K. Halliday's theory on the three dimensions of register, this paper probes into register by fixing it into the framework of language varieties, and argues that "the broad - sense register" will be in an advantageous position compared with "the narrow- sense register". The argumentation is put forth from the perspectives of the balance of the framework, the correspondence, overlap and transformation between dialect and register as well as the division of the fourth and fifth layers of the framework.
