The Origin and Development of the Uphill Roller

The experimental prototype of the Uphill Roller was born in 1694. It has been widely displayed and developed for more than 300 years. Its peculiar phenomenon runs counter to people''s cognitive inertia, but perfectly proves the law of physics. The Uphill Roller, now placed at Hall A of Explorations and Discoveries in China Science and Technology Museum was among the first batch of interactive popular science exhibits in China, with a history of nearly 40 years. Tracing the origin of the Uphill Roller, this paper introduces its history and structural principle, then explores its derivatives and development afterwards.
