多元性为智能本身所固有，多元智能说东方古已有之，并非加德纳所独创；指出既要讲多元智能，也要讲综合智能；在因材施教上，多元智能理论只解决教学问题，并不能解决教育问题。因此，我们不要过分夸大加德纳多元智能理论的意义。
