The Social and Economic Order Reflected in the Southeast Governor's Corruption Cases in the Time of Emperor Qianlong

In Qing Dynasty, the southeastern provinces gradually increased their contact with the overseas world after the prohibition relieved and the social economy there developed greatly. The Southeast Governor was in charge of guarding the border area and managing Customs, who had great responsibility as well as authority. So a series of cases concerning the governor reflected not only problems of administrative failures, but also problems of social economic systems and environment. The money the governors obtained from corruptions, their investment with it and even their consumption habits had exerted certain influence upon the development of the local economy.
