Challenges and Strategies for Scientific Journals in the New Media Integration

The emergence of new media has presented considerable challenges to traditional media. This paper discusses the challenges and opportunities that scientific journals have to meet and take, using qualitative and quantitative methods. It assumes that there exist circulation decline, advertisements loss, digital publishing impact, and other issues for scientific journals. It thus suggests that these challenges will be met if appropriate measures are taken in the areas of HR building, new technology application, products development, etc., and that scientific journals will embrace a potential opportunity in the new media convergence
