Flexural Behaviour of High Strength Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Beams

Abstract:This paper presents the research results of twelve high strength concrete beams reinforced with steel fibers and bars. Fiber type I and II reduce the deflection by more than 25% and increase the ultimate load by about 10% compared to high strength concrete control beams with the same concrete strength. Fiber III reduces the deflection by 10%. Steel fibers improve the ductility after yield by 26%-39% and the ductility after ultimate by 157%-186%. Steel fibers also reduce the crack length and the number of cracks at cracking stage and also reduce the number of cracks passing the beam central line at yield stage.
