土族的刺绣被誉为祖国民族艺术的一朵奇葩,堪称一绝.土族刺绣做工精细,图案颜色丰富多彩,每一针都可见功底,每一线都可出效果.土族民间刺绣种类比较多,在彩线的运用及颜色的搭配上,都具有着鲜明的民族及地方特色.于漫长的历史长河中,逐渐在色彩、针法等方面形成了自己独特的风格,常用的针法有三种:平针、掺针、插针.不同针法又延伸出独特的拉绣、堆绣、挂绣、盘绣.盘绣是先将数根丝线搓成细绳,再用绳线盘绣出图案,具有强烈的立体感,多用于大腰带、钱搭.作为土族独有的一种绣法,复杂巧妙,汇集了古老土族文化的深刻内涵,已被列入国务院公布的第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录.
