Development of a Behavioral Scale via Factor Analysis
Abstract:The Multi-Alcoholic Personality Inventory Scale (MAPIS) is a 20-item, paper-and-pencil, self-report questionnaire that measures alcohol dependency. Developed by factor analytic techniques, MAPIS is composed of four factors or subscales. These include the Drinking Pattern Factor Scale, the Psychological Factor Scale, the Stress Factor Scale, and the Personality Factor Scale. The alpha coefficient for MAPIS is 0.95, and it was validated by comparing the test responses of institutionalized and non-institutionalized alcoholics and non-alcoholics.
