论民族意识及其边界

民族是人的身份,但不是一个具有自明性的身份。民族与种族不同,种族是一个自然概念,民族是一个文化概念。民族不是一个实体,而是一个文化的共同体。对民族身份的认同可以增强民族共同体的凝聚力,但也要防止走向狭隘的和极端的民族主义;对民族的保护就是要保护民族的文化,就是要浸淫于民族的经典,保护民族的语言,但也要防止民族和国家的偶像化与符号化。

On National Consciousness and its Boundary

Though nationality is the identity of a single person,it is not self-evident.Nation differs from race,because race is a natural concept while nation is a cultural one.Nation is not an entity but a community with culture.Cohesion of a national community can be enhanced by the approval of identity of nation;however,parochial and extreme nationalism should be prevented.Protection of nation means protecting national culture,classical works of the nation,national language.Meanwhile,idolization and symbolization of the nation and state should be prevented.This paper tries to discuss the identity,acceptance of cognation,cultural feature and extreme of nationalism.
