Design of curriculum for two-year communications technology major at technical college

To design an updated and down-to-earth education curriculum for two-year Communications Technology major, goal of education, first of all, should be established and market demands be predicted so as to tailor the program to customers' needs. Then, learning objectives are to be defined and a core curriculum planned for the balance of subjects within. The curriculum has to be job-oriented and competency-based. Specifically, it should be of several features. Core subjects are strengthened and otherwise are softened; there are sufficient optional subjects for students to choose from in addition to the required. Eventually, students are caused to be multi-qualification holders. In terms of the student' s personal quality, thinking skills and hands-on experience are emphasized instead of abstract concepts and memorized procedures. With proper thinking skills as basics, they will sure be able to generalize from concrete, direct experiences to more abstract and broader theoretical thinking. The focus of curriculum should be on depth of study, not breadth of topics.
