中国现代文学的主力军──纪念文学研究会、创造社诞生八十周年

中国现代第一个纯文学社团文学研究会和另一个重要社团创造社今年诞生已８０周年，我怀着深深的敬意纪念它们对新文学作出的以下贡献：一、巩固了文学革命的成果，二、建立了创作理论，三、译介了外国文学，四、创作了大量作品，五、造就了一批作家，六、开创了文学流派。中国历史上文学社团为数不少，但象文学研究会和创造社这样在如此多的方面作出了巨大贡献的社团至今没有。其伟大贡献表明：它们不愧为中国现代文学的主力军。

The Principal Force of Modern Chinese Literature

This year is the eighty anniversary of the first pure Literature Society of Modern China and the other main Society──the Association of Creation. With profound respect, I commemorate the two Litera- ture Society for their such great Contribution to the Modern Literature as following: First, consolidate the achievement of Literature revolutionary. Second, initiate the theory of creation. Third, translate series of foreign Literature. Fourth, produce considerable works. Fifth, bring up lots of writers. Sixth, create many schools of Literature. There were lots of Literature Societies in Chinese Literature history, but no other Society exists, which makes such great contribution in many aspects of Literature but the Society of Literature Study and the As- sociation of Creation. Their mighty contribution proved themselves to be the principal force of Modern Chinese Literature.
