| 摘 要： | 《火山恋人》是一部历史题材小说，它以18世纪后半叶的那不勒斯为背景，描写了英国驻那不勒斯大使、大使夫人和英国海军上将的感情纠葛。苏珊·桑塔格在小说中塑造了凯瑟琳和埃玛两位女性人物形象，她们都是大使的妻子，但是有着天壤之别。本文对凯瑟琳和埃玛分别作了评述，并进行了比较，并从社会背景的角度分析了差异产生的原因。
