尺寸和颜色是否都会让二语学习者受伤?——来自二语指称加工的证据

本研究使用移动窗口技术,以中国英语专业学生为被试,探究语言交际中的过量信息对第二语言理解加工的影响。研究结果表明:不管是阅读由尺寸修饰导致的冗余,还是颜色修饰导致的冗余,被试所用的时间都显著比控制条件更长,出现二语加工的困难。这一结果支持格莱斯原理中量的原理,说明这格莱斯语用原理并不只是一套抽象的理论;相反,它对第二语言指称加工的预测具有心理现实性。

Does redundacy of both size modifiers and color modifiers discrupt L2 speakers’ language comprehension? Evidence from L2 referential processing

Using the moving window technique, this study examined the effects of modifier redundancy on second language processing by English majors from a Chinese university. The results indicated that the subjects took significantly longer time to read the segments modified both by size and color adjectives than their controls, signifying that redundancy of both a size modifier and a color modifier immediately disrupted comprehension. This study offered evidence that Gricean principles were not simply a set of abstract theories but instead were valid in predicting L2 speakers’ processing.
