| Abstract: | The Paper is a contrastive study on Verb-Object (abbreviated as VO) constructions in Chinese and English in terms of their phonetic, grammatical, semantic and pragmatic aspects. The paper attempts to explore and explain the differences between Chinese VO construction and its English counterpart. It is concluded that in the study that Chinese grammar tends to be termed more semantically in comparison to its English counterpart, whereas English grammar tends to be termed more grammatically in comparison to it... |
