| Abstract: | The contract documents of Zhang family in Shulu are well preserved and consistent in time.They provide valuable historical material for studying not only ordinary rural family life in northern China but also socio-economic history of rural North China.Some local instances of bureaucracy and social changes can also be found there,which is an enrichment of the cultural heritage of northern rural contracts. |
