Relevance Explanation of Coherence Presumption

Linguistic communication contains the presumption of relevance: the communicator normally conveys relevant information,and the addressee presumes and looks for it.In discourse comprehension,the presumption of relevance can be regarded as the presumption of coherence that the preceding contents are semantically relevant with the following parts.In light of this presumption the reader reconstructs the discourse coherence.
