| 摘 要： | Captain James Cook made his name as a world-famous explorer. It was Cook who represented the British in first travelling to New Zealand and Australia, paving the way for the British to venture further into these lands.The year was 1768 when the British government had a special force of explorers sent to discover for the British new lands in the southern part of the world. The leader of this expedition was James Cook.Firstly, he discovered New Zealand for the British. Then, it was Australia. There were already the original human inhabitants of these lands, so, morally speaking, Cook was not right in helping his government try and take over these lands from the natives.According to reliable sources , James Cook was the first European to land on Hawaii. However, it was at this place that he died tragically. He was killed by a few of the natives there. It happened in 1779.
