The Primitive Stratum of Cultural Life--A study on The Philosophy of Art

In The Philosophy of Art,Taine does profound study on the national nature of the literature.He believes the various peoples carry their unique qualities as being a member in the literary world,just like the orange and birch trees in nature.The development of literature is influenced by many a factor,in which the instinct and wisdom of a people is the most significant and durable,since they come from blood,the blood origin passed down through generations.The instinct and the wisdom won't degenerate unless the blood origin does.Therefore,taine named them the primitive stratum of cultural life.Compared with this deep and firm primitive stratum,the globalization,whose backbone is cultural hegemony,come across as that superficial and weak.It can't stand the trial of the times.
