| Abstract: | In Tang Dynasty,unsuccessful imperial exam candidates could serve as officials,return home to farm,engage in business,convert to religion,go into seclusion,or go in for education.Their career choices were restricted and influenced by the political institutions,the level of social and economic development,prevailing mind-set,and their family background. |
