Study on the Impact and Challenge of Electronic Books on the Library

In view of the huge impacts that the rapid development of electronic books exerts on the library, this paper gives a detailed discussion of the various impacts that electronic books pose respectively to the reading modes, the service, workflow and the library’s function of reserving human culture on the basis of an introduction to the definition, features and current developing status of the electronic books. Furthermore, it analyzes the challenge that electronic books exert on the existence form of the library and the authority and credibility of library resources. To conclude, the library should take the challenge of electronic books as an opportunity, keep pace with time and demand and constantly improve the quality of service so as to adapt itself to the needs of social development.
