A Comparative Analysis of the Development of Higher Education between the Two Sides of the Taiwan Strait since 1990s

With the advancement of reforms, thoughts of general education, quality education and humanistic education are generally recognized and promoted in both the Mainland China and Taiwan with various aspects being stressed in practice. There exist both similarities and differences in macro mechanism of operation such as school running, management, investment and enrollment. In the construction of higher education support system in terms of personnel management, educational legislation and educational information system, the two sides share much common ground. Therefore, active communication between the two sides is mutually beneficial.
