Abstract: | FlexiStudy is an 'open' learning system designed for mature students who want to follow non-degree level courses. It overcomes four of the five main administrative constraints identified by Coffey (1977) and eases several of the educational constraints he considered. In September 1979 FlexiStudy was offered by at least 15 further education and adult colleges in England, with nearly 900 total enrolments. This paper deals with its development, present operation and future prospects. |
