Abstract: | The Regional Colleges represent a characteristic and comprehensive contribution to the development of the so‐called short cycle institutions in Norway. The first colleges were introduced in 1969 and so far seven of them have been established. A parliamentary report on the further development and organization of higher education in Norway suggests the establishment of one Regional College for each of the 16 regions into which the country will be divided. We give below information on this new type of educational institution; whether it can resist the pressure of tradition and succeed in becoming a real alternative to the universities. |
